SCHEDULE CONFIRMED FOR 2024 MEN’S U19s WORLD CUP

The ICC have confirmed the schedule for the upcoming Men’s U19s World Cup in Sri Lanka, with Scotland set to face neighbours England in the group stage.

The tournament will run from January 13 to February 4, with 16 teams competing across 41 games to earn the title of Under 19s World Champions.

Scotland will also face South Africa and the West Indies in the group stage, with all of the Saltires fixtures set to take place at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground.

The Scots open the tournament against England on Saturday, January 13 before facing the West Indies on Tuesday, January 16. The group stage will conclude with Scotland taking on South Africa on Saturday, January 20.

The top three teams in each group will advance to the Super 6 stage, where teams will be split into two groups of six, and will play two additional games. Teams will carry forward the points, wins and NRR earned against their fellow Super 6 qualifying teams. They will then play against opponents from the corresponding group that finished in different group stage positions. The top two from each Super 6 group will progress to the semi-finals.

For those sides that don’t progress from the initial group stage, they will play an additional game in the 12-16 place play-off.

Ahead of the tournament, the Scotland squad will face two official warm-up games against Nepal and New Zealand.

Scotland qualified for the 2024 Men’s Under 19s World Cup with an impressive Europe Qualifier campaign, defeating the Netherlands, Italy, Norway and Jersey to complete an unbeaten tournament and top the points table.

The Saltires side that competed in the previous edition of the U19s World Cup, in 2022, has already seen two members graduate to the senior Scotland side, with Jack Jarvis and Tomas Mackintosh both earning their Scotland cap this year.
