Scotland come up short in their 2nd warm up match

Scotland suffered a seven-wicket loss over Ireland in Georgetown yesterday (12th) in their final warm-up match of the 2022 ICC Men’s u19 world cup.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Scotland got off to a solid start before losing Davidson in the 10 over on 25. Scotland battled on until the 31st over losing both MackIntosh (26) and Majeed (24) within three balls. Irelands Nathan McGuire took five wickets reducing Scotland to 138 in 47 overs

In reply, an unbeaten half-century from opener David Vincent (51 not out) made it a comfortable chase for Ireland, despite Oliver Davidson’s three for 27.

Scotland Coach Gordon Drummond was disappointed with the performance saying “Today we got ourselves into a decent position but unfortunately we lost wickets in clusters which stopped us pushing towards a 200 total. We need to improve our tactical awareness and cut out some poor decision making.

“With the ball we went for seven more boundaries than Ireland purely due to lack of discipline within our lines, which is something we have been talking about recently.

“We are obviously disappointed today, but I will be looking for a good reaction from the boys as we are going to have to get up to speed very quickly to take on Sri Lanka on Friday.”

Scotland s group matches start on Friday 14th versus Sri Lanka in Guyana and then they move to St Kitts to face the West Indies (17th) and Australia (19th).
