In the humid conditions of Kuala Lumpur, Scotland produced a brave performance versus tournament favourites Bangladesh eventually losing by 12 runs.

Bangladesh started strongly with the bat reaching 50 before Khatun was caught by Jack off Fraser in the 7th over. Fraser took a 2nd wicket 9 balls later (S Bryce stumping) however Bangladesh progressed steadily making 108 until Hoque retired in the 16th. K Bryce took a 3rd wicket in the final over with Bangladesh reaching 148/5.

With a target of 149 to win, S Bryce started aggressively hitting two 4’s off the first over before succumbing to a stumping in the 8th on 18. Scotland reached 100 in the 14th and although captain K Bryce looked inform hitting 56 and McGill adding 34, they were always behind the required run rate finishing on 136/7.

Scotland play their first group match on the 18th versus Malaysia.
