Scotland qualify for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020

Following their stunning win on Wednesday versus Ireland, Scotland U19’s completed the job today (Thursday) beating Denmark to qualify for the 2020 World Cup in South Africa.

Sitting on top of the qualifying group after four matches, the U19’s knew that a draw versus Denmark would be good enough to earn them their spot at the finals in 2020.

Scotland went into bat first and suffered an early scare losing three quick wickets and were sitting on 18/3 after 13 overs. Davidson and Shah then steadied the ship with a magnificent partnership of 152 before Davidson was caught by Hadeed on 72.

Shad continued with an unbeaten 90 setting Denmark a challenging score of 231 to win.

The Scottish bowling attack continued their form from Wednesday with Peet taking two early wickets in his first over. Naylor and Davidson both contributed with a wicket apiece leaving Cairns to destroy the Danish middle order amassing a haul of 5 wickets for only the loss of 15 runs.

Cairns finished off Denmark taking 3 wickets in the final four balls in the 25th over to secure a 142 run win and joy for his teammates, support staff and supporters. Unbeaten throughout the qualifying tournament, the U19’s can look forward to next years finals in South Africa with the knowledge that everyone in Scotland is very proud of their achievements.
