A 12-strong squad has been selected for Scotland U17 girls’ tour to England to face Nottinghamshire and Shropshire in two 45-over clashes.

Squad:

Orla Montgomery (Dumfries, Western Warriors)
Katy Anderson (Dumfries, Western Warriors)
Zoe Bailey (Forfarshire, Caledonian Highlanders)
Nicola Grant (Huntly and Caledonian Highlanders)
Emma Halliwell (Falkland and Caledonian Highlanders)
Catherine Holland (Stew Mel and Eastern Knights)
Jessica McCulloch (Galloway and Western Warriors)
Molly Paton (Stew Mel and Eastern Knights)
Zoe Rennie (Arbroath and Caledonian Highlanders)
Niamh Robertson-Jack (Stirling and Western Warriors)
Abi Scott (Elgin and Caledonian Highlanders)
Anne Sturgess (Clydesdale and Western Warriors)

Kathryn White, coach for the U17s, said: “We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete this week against Nottinghamshire and Shropshire, who are both opponents that we are yet to play against as U17s.

The team played well against Durham last week at Gala CC and won one of the three matches with good performances from several players including some eye catching displays behind the stumps from Ailsa Lister.

We have been able to reflect positively on the performances and now look to build upon the experience.

The young team will need to work hard with four senior players being selected for the Women’s Performance Academy trip to Ireland this week, which provides the opportunity for four fresh faces to join the team.

This just goes to show the growing depth of the women’s game in Scotland.”

Fixtures

Tuesday 23rd July: Scotland U17 vs. Nottinghamshire at Welbeck CC

Wednesday 24th July: Scotland U17 vs. Shropshire at Oswestry CC
