Scotland ‘A’ continued their impressive form in the ECB County Championship, defeating Cumbria by 8 wickets to make it 2 wins on the bounce.

Following an early start and a hearty breakfast at Abbington services, the squad made their way down the M6 to Kendal Cricket Club. On arrival the ground looked picturesque, and following slight confusion over the start time, captain Ollie Rae won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to bowl first.

The decision proved justified, as Caitlin Ormiston and Jess Mills found their rhythm as they reduced Cumbria to 23/7 after 9 overs. Ruth Willis and Lisa Thompson grabbed a wicket each either side of another from Mills, as Cumbria were bowled out for 38 in 13.2 overs.

In reply, Ollie Rae & Riti Patel put on a steady 27 run partnership, before Rae perished for 11. Liz Priddle followed for 3, before Lois Wilkinson (4*) joined Patel (16*) to finish the chase in 13.1 overs.

After the match, head coach Gordon Allan said “It’s always pleasing to get a comprehensive win under our belts, and our bowling performances in our last two outings have been really pleasing to watch. We will look to carry this form on to our next two matches vs Durham & Northumberland at the end of the month.”

Cumbria 38 all out (Mills 4/12, Ormiston 4/16)
Scotland ‘A’ 39/2 (Patel 16*, Rae 11)
