Scotland XI finish 4th at European Cricket Championship

Scotland’s first appearance at the European Cricket Championship in Spain has resulted in a 4th place finish at Cartama Oval in Spain.

Scotland XI, the representative team who topped Group C a week prior to secure their spot alongside England XI, Netherlands XI, Spain and Italy at Championship week, were beaten by England XI during the first match of Finals Day to secure their finish.

The team, coached by Riyaad Henry and captained by Ali Evans, enjoyed wins against England XI and Italy earlier in the week, but struggled against Netherlands XI, who were unbeaten in their group stage and ended the week as champions, and Spain, who are familiar with conditions and the 10-over format.

Earlier in Group C, the team, coached by Dan Sutton and captained by Adrian Neill, played 10 matches in total and secured 7 wins to top the group and progress to the Championship week.
