Scotland continued its presence on the global stage last night after six of Scotland’s men were picked up in the Global T20 Canada draft.

George Munsey, Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Safyaan Sharif, Kyle Coetzer and Matthew Cross will head across the Atlantic later this summer to compete in the second edition of the T20 competition, which runs from 25th July to 11th August 2019.

Kyle Coetzer and Matthew Cross will head to Montreal Tigers, with Richie Berrington and Safyaan Sharif picked up by Edmonton Royals. Calum MacLeod will turn out for Toronto Nationals whilst George Munsey heads to the newest franchise – Brampton Wolves.

Speaking of the draft, Simon Smith, High Performance Manager, commented: “A strong Scottish presence in an overseas T20 franchise tournament is further evidence of the progress we are making.

“This is an opportunity which is bound to benefit these players, so we wish them all well, and look forward to welcoming them back for our next international assignment – round one of Cricket World Cup League 2 in August.

“It is unfortunate that these players will miss the Tilney T20 Blitz, but their absence will present the opportunity for other players to perform in that competition, which is sure to advance the strength in depth of our three regional programmes.”
