STIRLING HOSTS MEN’S T20 SCOTTISH CUP SHOWPIECE

With all of the regional competitions now completed, four sides will be at Stirling County’s New Williamfield ground on Sunday to contest the men’s T20 Scottish Cup finals day.

Last year’s winners Forfarshire are defending their title in the final four, along with Prestwick, Falkland and 2021 champions Carlton.

The semi-finals clashes are due to take place at 11am, with the defending champions taking on Western Premiership One side Prestwick, who won the Rowan Cup on Wednesday night to reach this stage.

Forfarshire skipper Scott Cameron said:  “We are really looking forward to Sunday. It’s another chance for us to show our T20 skills that have done so well for us over the past couple of years.

“Getting to play new opposition from the west is always fun as it’s just different faces to play. Prestwick will be tough to beat, but we are looking forward to the opportunity and want to be crowned champions again.”

Prestwick were the last team to book their place at Finals Day as they lifted the Rowan Cup for the first time in their history, with captain Sachin Chaudhary saying:  “It was an incredible achievement for the club to win the Rowan Cup in its 100th year and get through to the T20 national finals.

“The boys and the whole club are looking forward to having a wonderful game [versus Forfarshire] and it’ll be great experience at another level.

“I’m so glad that the club is representing the WDCU this year in the national finals. We have been playing very consistently in T20 cricket and I do believe the boys are ready for the challenge. Hopefully, we play good cricket and entertain everyone.”

The other semi-final sees Eastern Premier League sides Falkland and Carlton meet.

Falkland skipper Jack Henderson said:  “We are very much looking forward to our first national finals day outing. The boys have been excellent in our T20 campaign this year backed up by a good run of results in this format.

“We have a decent crowd coming down to Stirling to support us and we want to give them something to shout about.”

“At Carlton, we are very much looking forward to Sunday’s T20 finals day in Stirling,” the Edinburgh outfit’s captain Umair Mohammed said.

It’s always a great occasion to be a part of and to be down to the final four in the country is fantastic for the club.

“We are under no illusions as to how difficult a task lies ahead of us.

“Falkland are a strong outfit with several match winners in their side, but we will focus on our team and our strengths. We can’t look any further ahead than the semi-finals, as the old saying goes we will take one game at a time. Let’s hope the weather plays its role on with promises to be an exciting day for all involved.”

The Men’s T20 Scottish Cup Final is set to start at 2.30pm, while all three games on Sunday are available to view on CS Live.
