Four Teams Heading to Stirling for Finals Day

Now in its 2nd year, the Beyond Boundaries T20 Scottish Cup is the premier T20 women’s event in Scotland. The inaugural event was won by GWC who once again are competing in this year’s semi-final, however they face some stiff competition tomorrow at Stirling C.C. if they are to hold on to the trophy.

This Year’s Semi-Finalists

Edinburgh South/Stewart’s Melville

The newly formed Edinburgh South/Stewart’s Melville team have enjoyed a very successful first season, winning the 2018 Women’s Premier League. Coached by Wildcat Katie McGill and lead on the field by Hannah Short from Tasmania and former Wildcat Kathryn White, they have found the perfect blend of experience and youth. In addition, the Edinburgh South Female Performance Academy is helping players like Scotland u17 off spinner Kathryn Fraser reach their full potential. The youngsters get plenty of opportunities with bat and ball, which will ensure the future for this team.

Carlton

With the Scotland Wildcats unavailable for club cricket due to international commitments earlier this summer, the next generation of Carlton Women have had plenty of opportunities in the Women’s Premier League in the first half of the season. Now, with Ruth Willis, Abbi Aitken and Hannah Rainey returning to the side, they are definitely contenders for the title.

George Watson’s College

Last year’s Beyond Boundaries T20 Scottish Cup winners, coached by long-time coach Liz Smith, will defend the title with a very young and relatively inexperienced line-up. Although Whitaker, Jack and Bennett all contributed with the bat in the round robin match, school commitments will largely dictate the line up of players on Finals Day.

West

The West team welcome back Wildcats spinners Abtaha Maqsood and Lois Wilkinson as well as wicket keeper Ellen Watson and the hard-hitting Charlotte Dalton who recorded the highest individual score with the bat this season in the Women’s Premier League (30 overs) 159* Young talented players like Niamh Robertson-Jack and Jess McCulloch will complement the experience in the team nicely.
