This new and exciting role seeks an energetic and experienced individual who can contribute to the Sports Science programme at the University of Aberdeen and, in addition, deliver quality coaching and sports development programmes across a wide range of partners.

The ideal candidate will be a minimum UKKCC Level 3 qualified cricket coach who has strong experience in developing and delivering performance cricket programmes, coaching in schools, and in building partnerships to grow and develop cricket. This person needs to be driven, able to work independently, an excellent teacher and committed to providing quality experiences and programmes for all athletes.

You will join the Institute of Education for Medical and Dental Sciences as one of a team of academic, administrative and clerical staff who support sport and biomedical sciences and healthcare degree programmes. The Institute of Education promotes and supports excellence in education with a focus on conceptually and theoretically robust education research and development which has a strong potential for reaching international recognition, led by the Centre for Healthcare Education Research and Innovation.

This innovative new position is funded by 3 key stakeholders – University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon’s College and Cricket Scotland – and the post holder will be a focal point and leader for the development of cricket in the wider Aberdeen area.

You will contribute to the design, development, delivery and assessment of the sport science teaching at the University of Aberdeen, and also deliver quality coaching and sports development programmes across the post partners i.e. University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon’s College and Cricket Scotland.

The post is offered full time with funding available initially for a period of 2 years.

It is anticipated that the postholder will spend on average 1 day per week out with the University working with partner organisations.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 salary scale (£26,829 – £30,175 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
