WESTERN Warriors will embark on their bounce back mission in the Tilney Pro50 series on Sunday 5th May.

They will be out for instant revenge when they square up to the Eastern Knights at Ayr’s New Cambusdoon ground before they head for Tayside and a tussle with the Cally Highlanders on Monday 6th May.

The champions, Eastern Knights, showed last weekend that they are in no mood to surrender their crown as they swept aside the challenge of both rivals in clinical fashion in the capital. Another success on the Ayrshire coast would make them very hard to be caught.

Western Warriors will be looking for significant batting contributions from experienced Scotland duo Calum MacLeod and wicketkeeper Matthew Cross – now also team-mates at Bexley CC in Kent.

Their squad to face the Knights is: M Awais (Uddingston), R Berrington (Clydesdale), T Bradburn (Stirling County), M Cross (Bexley, wk), R Henry (Ferguslie), M Jones (Tynemouth), T Jones (Stirling County), R Lyons (Uddingston), C MacLeod (Bexley), G Main (Uddingston), M Rao (Prestwick), H Tahir (Sunderland), C Young (Poloc).

Meanwhile, Highlanders have included promising youngsters Steve Meikle and Majid Rasheed for the Bank Holiday showdown with the Warriors at Foothill.

Meikle and Rasheed have impressed at representative age-group level and at their respective clubs, Falkland and Dundee HSFP respectively. In last week’s development quadrangular T20 event at Stirling, Meikle struck a superb half century against the Knights, while Rasheed bagged four cheap wickets against Scottish Universities.

Highlanders squad for Monday: M Leask (Forfarshire, Captain), R Brown (Heriot’s), S Cameron, B Ditchmen, C Garden wk, C Greaves, J Hogarth, R Johnston (all Forfarshire), J King (Stoneywood-Dyce), S Meikle (Falkland), M Rasheed (Dundee HSFP), C Wallace (Forfarshire).
