Scotland Women’s Head Coach Steve Knox has named an initial squad of fourteen ahead of Sunday’s top-of-the-table ECB Division 3 North encounter between Wildcats ‘A’ and Durham. After three wins in the North East of England, the unbeaten Scots go into the first of three consecutive home matches looking to consolidate their position at the top of the league standings.

The Wildcats’ strength in depth was illustrated by their emphatic win over Cumbria last weekend. Leading wicket-takers Lois Wilkinson (2 for 11) and Rachel Scholes (2 for 16) both claimed their fifth wickets of the campaign as the Wildcats recorded an 86 run win despite missing nine regular members of the full squad.

Eighteen-year-old Sarah Bryce has top-scored in every game so far, and after making her First XI debut for Watsonians in the Masterton Trophy earlier this month the wicketkeeping all-rounder will be keen to add to her tally of 157 league runs for the season. With the in-form Lorna Jack hoping to return, too, the Wildcats will provide a stern test for a Durham side looking to bounce back from their eight wicket defeat to the Scots on the opening day of the season.

Ahead of the fixture Head Coach Steve Knox said, ‘I’m really happy with how the season has started with three wins out of three setting the A team up nicely for a promotion push in the second half of the campaign.’

It’s been great to see the established Wildcats putting in performances and also the strength in depth that we’re building which was demonstrated on Sunday with nine of the senior Wildcats squad unavailable.

Sunday will be a big test against a good Durham side who will know they need to beat us to retain a realistic chance of winning the division.

The girls are really looking forward to the game and to playing in front of a home crowd as we don’t get the opportunity to do this very often.’
