Women’s Regional Series concludes this weekend

The Eagles and Stormers will be hoping to make it third time lucky as they clash in two T20s this coming Sunday. Having seen double headers washed out on both 29th July & 12th August, these two matches will settle the women’s regional series for 2018.

The Stormers, leading the series courtesy of two previous victories this summer, will be looking for the one win that they need to clinch the series, while the Eagles will need to win both matches to be sure of overhauling their opponents.

With a number of senior players unavailable due to work, the Stormers will be looking to the experienced duo of Lois Wilkinson & Abtaha Maqsood to lead them on the field, and with Wildcats Megan McColl, Laura Grant & Ellen Watson in the line up as well they will be confident of getting the result they need come Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles are also without a number of key players and will be looking towards Sarah Bryce & Hannah Short to star with the bat, along with Charis Scott who has been in fine form for both the Scotland 17s & 21s this summer.

Strathmore CC will play host, and given it has been the only venue the women’s T20s have been completed this year, we have every confidence of getting the matches completed.

The matches will be preceded by the national girls kwik cricket festival, which is taking place from 10:00 – 12:30, with the T20 matches starting at 13:00 & 16:30 respectively. It promises to be a great day of cricket, and with free entry we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Stormers: Lois Wilkison (capt), Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl, Ailsa Lister, Ellen Watson (wk), Ruth Neave, Cammy Sriram, Laura Grant, Orla Montgomery, Dawn-Marie Armstrong, Lucy Scarlett

Eagles: Sarah Bryce (cpt,) Ikra Farooq, Hannah Short, Charis Scott, Caitlin Ormiston, Catherine Edwards, Katherine Fraser, Chole Kiely, Nina Whitaker, Ruth Willis, Riti Patel
