Cricket Scotland's annual report and accounts for 2010, published this week, show a net surplus of more than £34,000, following one of the governing body's busiest years.
The accounts reveal increases in funding from both the International Cricket Council and sportscotland, but decreases in participation income due in the main to not reaching the T20 World Cup finals. Nevertheless, total income again exceeded £1.5 million.
Expenditure on Scotland's high-performance development was maintained at the previous year's level, but careful savings in many other areas of Cricket Scotland's activities kept overall costs significantly below that of 2009.
The overall surplus of £34,732 took Cricket Scotland's reserves over the £200,000 mark for the first time, having climbed steadily from a negative position just six years ago.
The annual report shows the significant amount of activity undertaken in 2010, and the success on the field with European Championship wins at U15 and U18 level, as well as the senior side reaching the finals of the World Cricket League Division 1 and the InterContinental Cup.
Cricket Scotland chairman Keith Oliver said: "We have placed huge importance on the growth and development of the grassroots game in recent year so I was delighted that the ICC has recognised our work in this area by awarding us the global 'Best Overall Development Programme' accolade for the year."
Chief Executive Roddy Smith added: "The statistics in this report show, I believe, that we have got the balance right between our community and performance programmes. 2010 was an exceptionally busy year, but a very rewarding one across all areas of our activity. Although we are operating in difficult times and we have seen a drop in our commercial income, we are delighted to post a small surplus."
