The Cricket Scotland Development Trust (CSDT), set up earlier this year, has made its first awards. The objective of the charitable trust is to promote and support the education, development and well being of children and young people within Scotland through the game of cricket.
The funding for the Trust comes from private benefactors, other charitable organisations and Cricket Scotland. All organisations involved in the development, organisation and promotion of cricket are eligible to apply. The trust is primarily concerned with the grass roots game, supporting clubs and organisations promoting and supporting participation in the sport.
To date 5 awards totalling £14,250 have been made to the following organisations:
The CSDT welcomes applications throughout the year with the Trustees meeting every three months to discuss applications and make funding awards. To date, the Trustees have been very impressed by the quality of Projects behind the applications submitted, in particular where these have identified community benefit and legacy value.
The Trust’s Chairman is Terry Racionzer, former Clydesdale, Sussex and Scotland cricketer who in his business career was Chairman of the Schuh company. Commenting on the Trust’s work to date he commented ‘The CSDT is here to support the development of cricket throughout Scotland by offering financial assistance to organisations who share our objectives. We are committed to supporting such organisations as well as we can by distributing the Trusts funds wisely’
