Easter coaching courses at the National Academy
This Easter, Cricket Scotland in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council is running cricket camps for all ages and abilities.
The first two coaching camps are week-long half-day camps for cricketers of all abilities between the ages of 6 and 16. These camps will give budding cricketers the opportunity of a week-long concentration of cricket coaching, skill development and game play. The coaching will look to develop new and existing cricket skills.
The second week of camps will be split between a Girls-only cricket camp, which is a first for Cricket Scotland, and 1:1 Coaching sessions.
The Girls-only camp is open to girls of all ages and ability and will allow the girls three days of concentrated cricket in a fun environment to prepare them for the new season.
The 1:1 Coaching sessions will give cricketers the opportunity to have their own coach for an hour looking at pinpointing and correcting technical weaknesses and developing strengths in every aspect of the game. The cricketer will have a say in what they work on and will be asked to fill out a pre session analysis form.
On the new format of camps this Easter, the City of Edinburgh Cricket Development officer Gordon Drummond said: "With these camps we are looking to meet the needs of cricketers of all ages and abilities within Scotland. They are designed to be fun but at the same time we are looking to develop the existing talent that we have throughout junior cricket in the country.
"We are also showing our commitment to Girls cricket by running Cricket Scotland’s first ever Girls-only cricket camp. I’m envisaging the camps to be well attended, so I urge cricketers to get theie names down early to avoid disappointment."
