Indoor report- Week 4
Week 4 in the Cricket Media 6’s consisted of Freuchie and Edinburgh University playing each other twice. This was due to Grange being unable to raise the six players required to fulfil their fixture. As it transpired, it was two teams of a good standard doing battle to gain the upper hand, with both knowing that two wins would pretty much book their place through to finals night.
The first game was a tight low scoring affair with Edinburgh University batting first and making 97 all out in the ninth over, B Durden scoring 29 and N Wickramasingha 25. R Birrell’s tight bowling keeping the University’s total under a hundred with a return of 2/12. In reply Freuchie may well have managed to chase down the target had they batted through their 10 overs. However they were all out at the start of the 8th over finishing on 72 all out and S Galloway top scoring with 28.
The second game was again a tight affair with Edinburgh again batting first and making 114/3 from their 10 overs N Wickramasingha again finishing in the mid 20’s.
The Fifers were sure that lightning would not strike twice in the same evening and confidently chased the University’s score down with 5 balls remaining. Stalwarts Birrell and Galloway were the main scorers for Freuchie and made sure that both teams will still carry aspirations of getting to the finals night when the next round of fixtures arrive!

Edinburgh 114/3 – 10 overs (3pts) N Wickramasingha 26,
