Cricket Scotland Holdings AGM 2011

The first AGM of Cricket Scotland Holdings Limited was held on March 29 at the home of Stewarts Melville/Royal High Cricket Club in Edinburgh.

The well attended meeting heard reports from the President Bob McFarlane and the Chief Executive Roddy Smith on the activity and highlights from 2010.  The President reiterated the many positives from the last year and commended all the volunteers, clubs and professional staff for a very successful year.  The full annual report is available to download from HERE.

The main outcomes of the meeting were as follows:

  • Matthew Parker was awarded the Henry Thow Rosebowl as the Young Cricketer of the Year
  • Dick Auckinleck was awarded the Basil D’Oliveria trophy for his outstanding service to the game in Scotland – this award is in the gift of the President.
  • Following an amendment proposed by Holy Cross CC, seconded by Carlton CC, the subscriptions for 2011 were approved.  The amended proposal means a reduction in the annual subscription for all member clubs bar those in the SNCL.
  • The final accounts of Scottish Cricket Limited showing a surplus of £34,732 were presented to the membership.  These did not need formal approval by the membership.
  • The motion to formally dissolve the Scottish Cricket Union was passed unanimously.

The following have been appointed as Directors of CSHL;

Bob McFarlane (President, Rossie Priory CC), Keith Oliver (Chairman), Robert Barclay (Finance Director, SMRH CC), Ken Godsman (Greenock CC), David Hays (Aberdeenshire CC), Jim McFadyen (Corstorphine CC), Keith Young (Poloc CC), Jim Young (West of Scotland CC) and Tino Weeraratna (Heriots CC).

Three nominations were received for election to the Competitions Management Committee.  The structure for the domestic game, including three committees covering Clubs, Officials and Facilities; Competition Management and Future Structures are currently being finalised and will be confirmed at the next Board meeting of CSHL on Tuesday April 19 2011.  The three nominees will all be appointed formally at this meeting.  The Chief Executive committed to confirm the new structure for the management of domestic cricket to the members within the next two weeks.

  •  Under any other competent business Carlton CC raised the issue of league reconstruction and their desire for it to be reviewed at the end of the season and the East of Scotland CA raised the difficulty they had faced in organising their fixtures this season due to the new SNCL league structure.

The full minutes of the meeting will be available to members in due course.
