Disability Cricket Champion Clubs: Strathmore CC

Each day this week we’re profiling one of our new Disability Cricket Champion Clubs. Today’s club is Strathmore CC.

We at Strathmore Cricket Club are committed to making a broader contribution to our community.

In recent years, we’ve become increasingly involved in working with partners to create new social and recreational opportunities that make a positive difference to people’s lives.

We know just how much participation in sport contributes to people’s health and their sense of wellbeing – so we’re committed to developing a “cricket offer” for everyone in the community, irrespective of age or ability.

As has been the case for most organisations, the pandemic placed a hold on some of our plans. But it hasn’t diminished our commitment to creating new cricket playing opportunities at the club. We are determined to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever and can’t wait to get our new initiatives underway.

We are thrilled to have been selected as a Disability Champion Club and are looking forward to the coming season, when we plan to establish regular disability sessions and expand on the walking cricket activity programmes we piloted in 2020. We’re also delighted to be working with Cricket Scotland and the other Champion Clubs to extend the pleasure and enjoyment of the sport to a new group of participants.

We can’t wait to welcome new members to the club and to the contributions that they will bring to the Strathmore cricket family.”
