Famous Five Scots Nominated for ICC Awards

Five super Scottish internationalists have been shortlisted for honours as the ICC get ready to hand out their Awards of the Decade before the calendar year is out.

Scotland skipper Kyle Coetzer, all-rounder Richie Berrington and batsman Calum MacLeod are in the running for the ICC Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Decade.

This award is for the player who has been the best overall performer in men’s Associate cricket during the performance period 1st January 2011 to 7th October 2020.

Peter Borren (Netherlands), Paras Khadka (Nepal) and Assad Vala (PNG) are the others nominated.

And Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce and wicketkeeper/batter Sarah Bryce – her younger sister – are in the running for the ICC Women’s Associate Cricketer of the Decade.

This award is for the player who has been the best overall performer in women’s Associate cricket during the performance period 1st January 2011 to 7th October 2020.

Natthakan Chantham (Thailand), Sterre Kalis (Netherlands), Chanida Sutthiruang (Thailand), Sornnorin Tippoch (Thailand) are the other nominees.

Coetzer, Berrington, MacLeod and the Bryce duo are not only fantastic cricketers, but great role models for the next generation.

Fan voting – get involved!

The ICC Awards of the Decade will recognise the best players across cricket over the past 10 years – and the for the first time the fans’ voice will be heard in selecting the winners across a number of categories.

The fan vote will make up 10% of the voting, while votes from an expert panel will make up the remaining 90%, for some of the awards including the Men’s Associate Cricketer of the Decade and the Women’s Associate Cricketer of the Decade.

The voting opened today (Wednesday 25th November) and closes on Wednesday 16th December.

Fans can register via the ICC website icc-cricket.com/awards and vote – so get your votes in for Scotland’s ‘Famous Five’ now!
