Hampshire Cricket today announced that George Munsey has signed for this summer’s edition of the Vitality Blast.
Available for the duration of the tournament, Scotland’s explosive top-order batsman will join up with the Hampshire squad later this week.
Speaking of the signing, left-hander George Munsey said: “I’m really excited to be joining Hampshire for this year’s Vitality Blast. I have been down a few times now and I love the environment – they have a great group there.”
Shane Burger, Scotland’s men’s head coach, said: “We at Cricket Scotland are very excited to see George join a fantastic county like Hampshire. It’s an opportunity for George to showcase his talent to the cricketing world and we look forward to seeing great performances.”
Hampshire Director of Cricket, Giles White, said: “We’re pleased to have George with us for this summer’s Vitality Blast and he’ll add further depth and fire-power to our top-order for that competition. He’s had good success with Scotland at international level and has been an important part of their white-ball sides – he’s a good fit for us.”
The first fixture for Hampshire in this year’s T20 Vitality Blast takes place on Thursday 27th August at Canterbury against Kent. All fixtures will be played behind-closed-doors due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
