Into the final third of East season

There is one third of the Eastern Premier League campaign for 2022 to go and there is still plenty to play for.

A dogged – and match winning – last wicket stand by Rory Martin and James Hickman for leaders Heriot’s in week 12 against Watsonians could yet prove to be a massive point in the season.

The Goldenacre men are top of the tree, but Forfarshire in second are in good form and there are still a few twists and turns likely.

At the bottom, Arbroath breathed new life into their bid to stay up with a first league win of the year last time out against Stoneywood Dyce, a result which now has a few teams looking cautiously over their shoulders.

This Saturday Heriot’s are on the road to sixth placed Stewart’s Melville who themselves had a fine victory against RH Corstorphine in their last outing.

Scotland players Mark Watt and Adrian Neill are added to the Heriot’s side for this one as is Elliot Ruthven.

Second placed Forfarshire are in Edinburgh to play third placed RH Corstorphine.

The Broughty Ferry men have been boosted by the return of Scotland all-rounder Michael Leask as well as Glenn Carnegie, Fergus Duncan, Callum Garden and Jack Hogarth for this one.

Gen!us Grange are fourth and they are at home to seventh placed Stoneywood Dyce.

Grange lost at Carlton in week 12 to dent their title hopes, but they have Scotland duo Chris Greaves and Chris Sole back for this encounter with Will Franks and Robbie Welsh also joining the side.

After last week’s defeat at Arbroath Jamie King passed on the Stoneywood captaincy to Lennard Bester.

Eighth plays fifth in an Edinburgh derby as Watsonians host Carlton at Myreside.

And after a win on the road, Arbroath will look to build on the feel good factor at home to ninth placed Falkland.

Craig Cameron, Jack Plomer, Ryan Plomer, Chris Robb and Ben O’Mara join the Arbroath XI for this very important game.

Adam Ferguson re-joins the visiting ranks for this game.

Saturday, July 23’s fixtures:

RH Corstorphine v Forfarshire (Barnton)

Stewart’s Melville v Heriot’s (Inverleith)

Watsonians v Carlton (Myreside)

Gen!us Grange v Stoneywood Dyce (Portgower Place)

Arbroath v Falkland (Lochlands)
