Cricket Scotland has announced that John Blain has stepped down as both East of Scotland Performance Lead and National Fast Bowling coach to focus on his other work and commitments.

Blain, who has held his position of lead bowling coach for two years, has been well positioned to share his valuable knowledge to Scotland’s pace bowlers, being an ex Scotland International himself and having spent his former years playing and coaching at Yorkshire CCC.

The 38-year old former Scotland seamer claimed 143 List A wickets and played 33 One Day Internationals, 43 First Class matches and 6 T20s.

On the announcement Cricket Scotland’s National Coach Grant Bradburn said, “John has been a valued member of our National Team staff over the past two years and we will miss his direct input. With first-hand experience of being a quick bowler for Scotland, we have been fortunate to have tapped into John’s vast knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for assisting our pace bowlers in the National and Performance squads.”
