Keith has a deep seated interest in cricket having been “indoctrinated” by his grandfather and father both of whom played for Hawick and Wilton. Keith and his four brothers are all named after Test cricketers (3 Australian and 1 West Indian – this was before the Saltires era!)
Educated at Wilton School, Hawick, St Mary’s Melrose and Fettes College and then graduating from Edinburgh University with LLB Honours, where he played University cricket, Keith’s business career has taken him through a partnership with Dundas & Wilson to the foundation of his own firm Olivers WS in 1992. He is the former Chairman of Lords Taverners in Scotland, a Governor of Fettes College and a member of MCC; in addition to cricket Keith is interested in all sports, particularly golf.
Keith became Chairman of Scottish Cricket Limited and the S.C.U in September 2002 and has presided over the marked increase in the public awareness of cricket in Scotland particularly at international level. He has been an integral part of the expansion of the business of Cricket Scotland and forged relationships in Scotland with sponsors, business connections and other stakeholders, particularly, Sports Scotland and the Scottish Government and internationally, with the ICC and other cricket governing bodies, particularly the ECB, Cricket Ireland and BCCI.
These contacts have assisted in cementing relationships and facilitated continued participation in ECB competitions at various levels and the staging of prestigious international fixtures in Scotland including the first ever international fixture against England and the India v Pakistan Prince’s Trust charity game.
Keith has also driven the proposed Constitutional and governance changes of the business of Cricket Scotland and overseen the foundation of the Cricket Scotland Development Trust, with a view to ensuring the clubs, who are the lifeblood of the sport, feel properly represented.
