Men’s team head stateside for the first time

Cricket Scotland Men’s Team will make history when they tour the USA for the first time this summer.

With four fixtures taking place from the end of May, Scotland’s men will go up against the USA and UAE as they continue their journey in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

The games, held at Moosa Stadium in Texas, will be the first one day Internationals on American soil since 2019 and the first ODI fixtures played in the southern state.

Scotland sit second in the table behind Oman, having played 16 fewer games than them, and following a perfect 4 from 4 in Dubai last month, are keen to keep up the momentum.

Gavin Main will be looking to continue his great form

The fixtures will be able to view on www.icc.tv, and all games will have 10.30am CST / 4.30pm BST starts, with tosses at 9.30am CST / 3.30pm BST every day:

  • 28th May – USA vs Scotland
  • 29th May – USA vs Scotland
  • 31st May – Scotland vs UAE
  • 3rd June – UAE vs Scotland

Ahead of the games this month, Scotland Men’s Head Coach Shane Burger has named his squad.

Three players have been added in Chris Greaves, Chris Sole and 17-year-old Oliver Davidson, who makes his first appearance for the national team. A left arm spinning all-rounder, Davidson was a part of the Scotland U19 World Cup squad earlier this year and is involved in the Worcestershire CCC Academy.

Scotland Men’s Head Coach Shane Burger said: “The squad were fantastic on our last trip and managed to achieve all goals that were set. This trip will be tough and a new experience for everybody as it’s our first trip to the USA. We are excited to see good results and performances and to make the most of this exciting opportunity.”

Scotland Men’s Captain Kyle Coetzer said: “USA is a team we haven’t played a lot in the last few years, but I know they possess some dangerous players and have the potential to become a very strong side in the years to come. We have played UAE plenty over the years – they are a side that clearly are developing into a fine team and one we have got to keep our eye on. In our own team, it is exciting to see a new name in Olly Davidson in the squad. We need to keep blooding new young players and give them their opportunity when they arise.”

Olly Davidson, who receives his first call-up for the men’s team, said: “It’s a real honour to be selected for Scotland at 17. I really enjoyed playing the T20 trial games last year with the squad and look forward to working with the coaches and players again on this tour.”
