2015 Wildcats Fixture Schedule Announced

25 Mar

Newly promoted Scotland Wildcats will start their 2015 campaign with a double-header against Wales and Staffordshire on May 3rd and 4th in Division Two of the ECB Royal London Women’s One Day Championship.

The team take on Worcestershire and Durham three weeks later in the same competition before embarking on the promotion charge in Round One of the ECB T20 Cup in Oxfordshire.

Internationally, the 2015 season bears particular importance as the team will compete for a place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup place at the qualifying tournament in Thailand.  Full details about the tournament will be announced in due course.

With the season fast approaching, Captain Abbi Aitken comments, "With a productive winter coming to an end, the team and I are looking forward to the challenging season ahead.  After securing promotion last year, we are excited at the prospect of testing our abilities in a more competitive and demanding league.

The squad have worked hard all winter to ensure they are all fully prepared for our first fixture on May 3rd.  Our ultimate goal for 2015 however, is to ensure we are fully fit and competitively charged come November, when we will compete at theT20 Global World Cup Qualifiers in Thailand."

Speaking ahead of the opening fixtures, Women’s Cricket Manager Kari Carswell said, “The 2015 season is nearly here and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead.  The teams have completed an extensive winter indoor training programme and had more contact time with coaches than ever before.

It’s been great to increase the number of quality coaches involved in the national programme and they've all added in something different and really bought into squad ethos.

It's a long season for the Wildcats in particular, starting in May and ending with the global qualifiers at the end of the year, but I'm sure the players can't wait to get started.  We have to build on our successes from 2014 and by moving up a league will bring us new challenges and I’m confident that the 11 girls picked for any given match will put in the performance that is required.”
