Another Successful WDJCU Indoor Tournament
The annual West District Junior Cricket Union (WDJCU) Indoor Tournament took place between Christmas and the New Year, in the Hutchesons' Grammar School Sport Hall.
There were three age group competitions (U12, U15 and U19) and, over the four days, 196 different young players from fourteen different Clubs participated in the 8 a-side, hard ball matches.
As always, the indoor format saw quick runs, flurries of wickets, some unusual bounces off of the roof, the walls, the basketball hoops and any other obstructions that help to make this format of the game so varied - and some great moments of athleticism in the field.
Clydesdale CC emerged as the winners at all three age groups, playing fourteen games and winning them all! There was individual success for Clydesdale CC too - with Gautam Kakar (U12) and Kallum Dhami (U15) being named as Player of the Tournament. At U19 level, this honour went to 2013 Scotland U15 captain Shujaa Khan of Ayr CC.
Overall, the tournament was another very successful one and it was only made possible due to the fantastic effort from the players, their parents and the Clubs.
