Bert Barclay retires as CS Director
After 40 years of much valued service, Bert Barclay has informed the Board that he will retire as a director with effect from the AGM on 13 April 2016.
Bert's name has been synonymous with Scottish cricket since 1976 when he became Honorary Secretary of the old Scottish Cricket Union. From those days (when his duties ranged from arranging fixtures, notifying players of their selection and paying their expenses to representing the SCU at international conferences!), he has been a central part of the journey of the sport in Scotland to a professionally managed game with contracted players and participation at world tournaments. In that role he has, in particular, used his professional expertise as a chartered accountant to oversee the finances of the organisation.
His long association with the SCU was recognised by the MCC in 2007 when they made him an Honorary Life Member.
Cricket Scotland wishes to record its deep appreciation of Bert's long and dedicated service to cricket in Scotland and wish him the very best for the future. In recognition of that service, the Board has decided to make Bert an Honorary Life Member of Cricket Scotland.
