Caledonian Highlanders U18 v Western Warriors U18

Mannofield, Aberdeen, Thursday 10th July 2014

The second 50 overs clash in the series saw Western Warriors to Aberdeen to face a Highlanders team optimistic of achieving a positive result.

Warriors elected to bat first after skipper Flack won the toss and steady progress was made up to the 30th over as 110 was reached for the loss of just 2 wickets with Muhammad Azeem scoring heavily with 83 admittedly given several lives as catches were put down at regular intervals.

A post drinks collapse saw 4 wickets fall with the score on 120 as Warriors were reduced to 120 for 6. Some degree of order was restored as Ghaffar (35) and Lewis (26) shared a 57 run partnership as Warriors finished their 50 overs on 199 for 8. Pick of the Highlanders bowlers included a miserly 2-14 from off spinner Ryan Brown’s 10 overs, 3-33 from left arm spin Ryan Cameron and a welcome return from injury for Scott Cameron as he returned 2-17.

Highlanders reply began with the early wicket of Gosse but little comfort followed for Warriors as Scott Cameron and Ben Wilkinson dominated the bowling with an 87 run partnership containing a belligerent 62 from Wilkinson in only 52 balls. Scott Cameron continued his good work ending not out on 82 with support from Jack Waller (36n.o) as Highlanders coasted to a comprehensive 8 wicket win inside 39 overs.
