Citylets to sponsor the 50th Scottish Cup
Cricket Scotland is delighted to announce Citylets as the new sponsor for the 2016 Scottish Cup which celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The competition, which will be named the Citylets Scottish Cup, has been Scottish cricket’s most prestigious cup competition since it’s inception in 1966.
Cricket Scotland and Citylets have enjoyed a long relationship spanning over a decade, with the leading letting portal previously holding the naming rights Scotland’s international venues.
The competition will be launched on Thursday 21 January at Hamilton Crescent in Glasgow where the draw will be made by CS President Colin Neill and Tom Ralph, who was part of the Kelburne side who won the inaugural competition.
2016 is another huge year for the sport in Scotland with the national team competing in the ICC World T20 in India, and the under 19s at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh.
Citylets Managing Director Thomas Ashdown said, “Citylets is delighted to again be supporting and working with Cricket Scotland through sponsorship of its flagship tournament, the Scottish Cup. It’s a privilege to be coming in on its 50th year and we look forward to some hotly contested play in pursuit of this coveted trophy.”
Cricket Scotland CEO Malcolm Cannon added “We are thrilled to rekindle our relationship with Citylets. The Scottish Cup has a wonderful history and is seen as the pinnacle cup competition of the domestic season. Not only does this year represent an important anniversary for the competition, but it comes during a period of great success for the national sides and exciting growth at the grassroots level.
We are really looking forward to working with Citylets, and our other sponsors, to share this success with the Scottish and cricketing public.”
