Cricket Forth Valley join with Sports Marketing Network
Cricket Forth Valley (district development group) is embarking on an exciting new project.
From August 2014 the development group will be employing a full time community development coach working in each clubs clusters areas and have acquired the services of Sports Marketing Network (SMN), an organisation which will work closely with the clubs providing them with more information and advice on how to make themselves more viable, vibrant and visible sharing best practice across all sports.
The concept has been a long time in the making, as this type of project has called for a multi partner approach. Funding has been secured from a number of different sources including Sport Scotland’s ‘Direct Club Investment’ the clubs themselves, and the Forth Valley Community Cricket Trust.
Following the recruitment process, Tony Phillips has been appointed as the Community Development Coach, with the role of enthusing the young people with cricket, and to encourage their migration from schools to the clubs. Tony commented, ‘I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of working closely with all the clubs and helping them to achieve their goals of increasing their membership numbers’.
Acquiring the services of Svend Elkjaar and the SMN is a new and different approach. Svend will be deliver group and 1-2-1 club seminars aimed at increasing club income generation, increasing community partners and club membership. The first group seminar is scheduled for the 30th September at New Williamfield, and then individual club meetings will be arranged.
Partners involved in this project include, Cricket Forth Valley, Clackmannan Council, Active Stirling, Falkirk Community Trust, Clackmannan C.C.C., Stirling C.C.C., St Modans C.C., Callander C.C., Westquarter & Redding C.C. and Forth Valley Community Cricket Trust.
This is the culmination of a lot of hard work behind the scenes and Ian Shaw Cricket Development Manager (Central, Angus, Fife & Dundee) commented. ‘Many thanks to all partners involved in this exciting new project, I look forward to working with Tony and Sven over the next four years ensuring that all the clubs increase membership, community partners and income generation, and ensure that cricket is on a firm footing in Forth Valley’.
