CS help launch The Memories Project

03 Apr

The Minister for Sport, Aileen Campbell, launched The Memories Project and Sports Heritage Scotland's new website at the Scottish Football Museum on Friday.

Cricket Scotland is proud to be a member of the Sports Heritage Scotland network and were represented at the launch by President Bruce Dixon, Past President Colin Neill and Cricket Memories Scotland Ambassador Alex Steele.

Cricket Scotland, Scottish Rugby, the Camanachd Association, the British Golf Museum and the Scottish Football museum will come together under the banner of Sports Heritage Scotland, bringing sporting memories of the past to those living with memory loss.

The collaborative effort will create minimum of 30 reminiscence groups for golf, rugby, shinty and cricket, supported by the existing Football Memories Scotland Network.

Each group will be able to access a digital archive of photographs and informational on the Sports Heritage Scotland website for their chosen sport, compiling packs relevant to their own needs.

Scotland currently leads the world in reminiscence therapy and we are happy to have a role to play in that. We are also delighted to announce that one of the benefits of our partnership with The Scottish Football Museum will involve a six month Cricket Exhibition at Hampden which will launch in October 2017.
