Cricket Scotland to revisit National Facility Move
In June 2014 Cricket Scotland, Stirling Council and Stirling Cricket Club announced plans for a national cricket centre to be based at New Williamfield, Stirling. Since then the parties have been working together to try and bring those plans to fruition.
One of the key elements of the project has been funding the costs of constructing and fitting out the centre. Various funding models and sources have been investigated, but it has not been able to find a solution which could have worked for Cricket Scotland. As a result, Cricket Scotland has, regretfully, had to withdraw from the planned project.
Cricket Scotland would like to put on record its gratitude to Stirling Council and Stirling County Cricket Club for all their support in trying to deliver the project.
Cricket Scotland will, over the next six months, be developing a new strategy which will include, as a key strand, long term planning for raising the funding necessary for a national cricket centre - something that remains an aspiration for cricket in Scotland.
