Development XI v Sussex
The Scotland Development XI played their final group match against county outfit Sussex at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery 1, earlier today (21 February).
The Scots opponents have been impressive during the competition so far, winning all of their group games, and hoping to go into Finals Day undefeated.
It was very much a learning curve for the youngsters as Sussex opener, Georgina Adams, stole the show, stoking an impressive 112* from 118 balls and batting throughout the innings. She was ably supported by Sophie Parnell who scored 65 from 68 deliveries in an opening stand worth 143 from the first 20 overs.
However, the Development XI rallied together in the final half of the Sussex innings that included a spirited spell from Sam Haggo, who returned with figures of 8-0-34-2, as Sussex finished their 40 overs on 248/5.
It was always going to be a difficult chase for the Scots, and it didn’t get off to the best of starts as they found themselves on 28/4 after an impressive opening spell by seamer, Izi Noakes who finished with 8-2-14-3.
Wicketkeeper, Lorna Jack struck two boundaries during her innings if 15, while Kathryn Bryce played a watchful innings to top score with 19, as the Development XI made sure they batted out their overs finishing on 104/7.
The Development XI will now play their final fixture on Saturday before their tour comes to an end and return on Sunday.
