Scotland and England U19s contested their first official warm up game at the ICC Global Cricket Academy on Monday 10th February.

England won the toss and elected to bat first on an excellent wicket at the Academy, as both teams were permitted to use 14 players to ensure everyone received an extended work out.

Scotland opted to open the bowling with the spin of Chayank Gosain and the pace of Stuart Whittingham.

Tattersal and Surrey sensation, Dom Sibley, negotiated the score to 89 in the 21st over, before Chris Sole enticed an edge from the bat of Sibley to Alex Baum behind the stumps, to claim the first Scotland wicket.

Tattersal fell two runs short of his half-century, but it was a third wicket stand of 128 by Higgins and Ben Duckett that took the game away from the young Scots.

Higgins stroked a patient 60 from 83 balls, while Duckett was the aggressor, smashing 11 fours and a six, to score 92 from 68 deliveries.

England finished their innings on 281/4, with Chris Sole the pick of the Scotland bowlers, ending with figures of 2/58. William Edwards and Gavin Main claimed a wicket a piece.

The Scotland innings didn’t get off to the best of starts with captain Ross McLean dismissed for 0 in the second over of their reply.

England then turned up the heat and showed their class to put the squeeze on, with Luke Wood bowling an excellent spell to finish with 2/18 from his 8 over spell.

Eight Scottish batsmen did manage to reach double figures, Chris Sole top-scoring with 20, but wickets fell at regular intervals to leave the Scotland 153 runs short of the England total, eventually being dismissed for 128 in the 40th over.

Scotland will play Afghanistan in their final warm up game on Wednesday before their first group match against Papa New Guinea on Saturday.
