Pro Series Opener Delayed
Cricket Scotland has today announced the opening Pro 50 Trophy match of the season between the Highlanders and the Reivers has been postponed.
The first game in the five match series was scheduled for Myreside on Sunday April 28th; however essential drainage work carried out on the ground has not repaired in time. The unseasonably cold spring weather, which has prevented any meaningful grass seed germination, has unfortunately meant that parts of the outfield have been rendered unsuitable for a match of this standard.
Commenting on the postponement, Cricket Scotland Performance Director Andy Tennant said, “Although it is obviously disappointing to have to postpone the fixture, but we are fortunate that it has come early enough for us to re-schedule the fixture for later in the season, and will allow us to retain a five game series.”
He added “Credit must also go to Watsonians and Head Groundsman Willie Morton for keeping us in the loop with regard to the lack of growth. The reality of the situation is that the cold weather has beaten us on this occasion.”
The match has now been rescheduled for early August with a final date and venue to be confirmed. The first match in the series will now be at Clydesdale’s Titwood Ground on Wednesday 8th May with an 11.45 start.
