Galloway CC awarded £5,000 Grant from Jewson
Cricket Scotland wish to congratulate Galloway Cricket Club on the fantastic £5,000 grant they were awarded by Jewson through the `Building Better Communities` Scheme.
With over 2,000 project applications coming in from around the UK, for Galloway CC to be included in the Top 14 clubs/projects short-listed for a grant is a brilliant achievement.
The grant will help the club move towards realising their dream of building a new pavilion at their picturesque Gatehouse of Fleet ground that will have a big impact on the lives of people living in a remote area.
The new facility will open up opportunities not just for cricket but a whole range of activities and community groups in the Galloway region. The Jewson grant, along with the substantial funds already raised by the club, means they are well on their way to making their new pavilion a reality.
In announcing the winners, Jewson went on to say:
“A huge congratulations goes out to all the Building Better Communities competition finalists. From over 2,000 entries we selected just 14 projects, so it`s a fantastic achievement for the winners and we can`t wait to see the positive effect the prize money will have.”
They also had this to say about Galloway CC in particular:
“The local support for this project was substantial, and the funding they have already secured demonstrates the clubs ability to make the development happen. Our contribution of £5,000 for building materials will be able to help them move forward with their plans.”
In response to the great news, Galloway CC President Dennis Combes said:
“The existing pavilion is approximately 100 years old, is falling down and can no longer provide the necessary facilities for our ever-increasing numbers of enthusiastic young children and adults. We are so grateful for the donation from Jewson and with their help we can work together toward building a new pavilion and impacting the lives not only of cricket members but all associated clubs in the area who hope to use the completely transformed Galloway Cricket Club pavilion.”
Well done to Galloway CC and we hope to see this fantastic project become a reality in the very near future.
