Girls Indoor Tournament
The MES cricket tournament always promises to the highlight of the women’s indoor cricket season. This year was no exception with 8 teams entering from all over Scotland the competition was the culmination of all the hard work and fun that goes into making Scottish women’s cricket so special.
Group A finished with Stirling CCC as outright winners having won all three of their games, followed by a three way tie with each of the other three teams having won one game each. To decide the final group standings, the calculations were made on wickets taken. Galloway ended up coming second having taken 7 wickets overall throughout their three games followed by MCA fire in third place and MES Swans coming in fourth.
Group B was more straight forward. A confident performance from MCA storm saw them finish top of their group having won all three of their games, closely followed by Carlton who won two games, St Boswells came in third having won one game and despite some impressive cricket MES Hurricanes unfortunately could not win a game.
The semi-finals were a hotly contested affair with Stirling putting up a strong fight against an impressive Carlton performance. MCA storm put Galloway through their paces and ended up coming out winners.
The final ended in an MCA storm victory with Carlton racking up a competitve score. It wasn’t to prove enough as MCA storm chased the total down with an over and a half to spare.
Overall the thanks for such a great tournament has to go out to the players and coaches who played the tournament with the right attitude and showed great comradery and sportsmanship
