Girls Kwik Cricket Festival

25 Jul

Girls posterCricket Scotland will again be hosting a Girls’ Kwik cricket event on Sunday 25th August at Doo’cot Park in Perth.

The day will allow U12 girls from all over Scotland to come together to play a series of Kwik cricket games.  Clubs are invited to send teams or individual girls to the event.  Everyone will get at least four games of cricket.

Members of the Scotland women’s team will also be on hand to share some tips and coaching advice.

This is the second year of the event and even though last year wasn’t particularly good summer weather-wise, the sun was out on the day last year.

Kari Carswell, Women’s Cricket Manager for Cricket Scotland is excited about this year’s event, “Knowing that there are lots of girls out there in our clubs playing Kwik cricket, giving them an opportunity to come along and play is vital if we want to keep the game growing at the grass-roots level.

Girls can come along in small groups, individuals or as a team of 8 -it doesn’t matter.  The day is all about coming along playing Kwik cricket and having lots of fun.  We have made some good strides over the last couple of years getting more girls and women playing. But it can’t stop there we have to keep moving forward.  We have had some incredible support .I’m really thankful to everyone who has supported the game and I hope they continue to do so”.
