Highlanders celebrate another title
The Highlanders wrapped up the Cricket Scotland Pro 50 tournament with a win over the Reivers at Titwood on Thursday.
Spinner Mark Watt was the unlikely hero with the bat for the Highlanders, after captain Craig Wallace had won the toss and asked the home side to field first.
He may well have been regretting that decision when his side slid into trouble on 75/7, with Abdul Sabri removed Fraser Burnett, Wallace and Petrie.
But the innings of the day was to belong to Watt with a blitz of an innings. He struck 8 fours and 6 sixes on his way to 100 to ensure the Highlanders would finish on 180.
The Highlanders, who have romped to victory in the North Sea Pro Series earlier in the year, were to add another trophy to the cabinet as they produced a comprehensive bowling display.
Michael Leask was the star with the ball, claiming a remarkable 5/6 to spin his side to victory by a 111 runs, with Sabri the only Reivers batsman able to reach double figures.
