Knox named new Scotland Women's Head Coach

24 Mar

Cricket Scotland is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Knox as Head Coach of the National Women’s squad. Knox will take over the reins from Kari Carswell who stepped aside at the end of the WWT20 qualifiers in Bangkok in December to concentrate on her role as Cricket Scotland’s Women’s Cricket Manager.

Former Internationalist Knox commented “I am excited by the opportunity to work with the Wildcats and I am confident I can help them improve their skill levels and help foster a strong culture and winning mentality within the group.”

Knox has coached Scottish representative sides at youth and Pro Series level alongside his role as Head Coach of the German Men’s National team since 2014. This summer the Wildcats will continue to play domestic cricket in the ECB county system at both 50 over and T20 level. The biggest dates in the diary for this summer though will see Knox take the national side in to the start of their qualification journey towards the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup when they take on the Netherlands in a 3 match series in Essex in July.

Cricket Scotland Performance Director Andy Tennant stated “Steve’s experience as a performance coach in a wide variety of environments - and his proven track record in player development, make him extremely well suited to drive the women’s performance programme to the next level. We are excited about the potential of this young group of players and will continue to increase the support we provide in order to accelerate the development of our best female athletes.”
