Lords to continue Scottish Cup partnership

29 Apr

With the preliminary matches for the Scottish Cup taking place this weekend, Cricket Scotland is delighted to announce its continued partnership with Lords International.

The prestigious competition, which stretches back to 1966, originally named the Rothman’s Quaich, will see Glasgow Academicals entertain Stewart’s Melville, while an all eastern clash between Glenrothes and Meigle will take place at Girvinbank Park.

The other fixture sees Queensberry St Michaels host Weirs at Kingholm Park.

Lords, who have been involved with Scotland’s premier cup competition for three years, will supply the recognisable pink balls throughout the competition.

Cricket Scotland’s interim Chief Executive, Willie Donald, said, “We’re delighted to have ongoing support from Lords to supply us with these balls, which have become synonymous with our flagship cup competition, the Scottish Cup.”

He continued, “I’d like to take this opportunity to wish every team taking place in the competition the best of luck, and even though it’s a wee while away, I’m already looking forward to Finals Day.”

Mr Abu Njmi of Lords International, added "At Lords we manufacture over 30,000 cricket balls every year and supply them all over the world to all levels of cricket.  In the UK, leagues are using over 40,000 balls and we are very proud to be associated with Cricket Scotland.”
