MacLeod, Munsey and Coetzer head to HK Blitz

Scotland’s Kyle Coetzer, Calum MacLeod and George Munsey have each signed for a Hong Kong T20 franchises for the competition that will take place in March 8-12 2017. 

In its second edition, the Hong Kong T20 Blitz promises to be a grandeur affair with some of the top T20 specialists from around the world descending on Mission Road in Mong Kok. 

Calum MacLeod will joining the Kowloon Cantons where he will play alongside Shahid Afridi, Tymal Mills and Hong Kong captain Babar Hyat.

Coetzer, who led Scotland in the recent Desert T20, will be part of the newest team to join the tournament, City Kai Tak, who also have the batting skills of Tillakratne Dilshan in their ranks. 

George Munsey was the final Scottish player drafted and will play for Hong Kong Island United with Misbah Ul Haq and Ian Bell.

Grant Bradburn commented on the good news for the three players, “The Hong Kong Blitz is fast becoming the new T20 competition on the global scene. Kyle, Calum and George have all been offered positions in three different teams which is an amazing opportunity for them. 

For our Scotland players to be rubbing shoulders with International players of this calibre while gaining opportunities to show their own vast skills, is just brilliant and Cricket Scotland is very supportive of their involvement.”
