Martin Flynn (1931-2013)
It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Martin Flynn of Carlton Cricket Club, at the age of 82.
Martin became Carlton secretary in 2000, one of the club's most astute appointments, but his umpiring career in Scottish cricket spanned over 40 years.
Over the years the “fickle finger of Flynn” became legendary among generations of cricketers. A Mathematics lecturer at Napier University in his ‘day job’, he also had a long association with Holy Cross CC and had been a hard-working stalwart of Scottish Universities cricket over many years.
Martin’s work ethic, his reliability and, above all, his enthusiasm for all things cricket has been an inspiration to those sufficiently fortunate to have known him.
Martin Flynn has who was one of Scottish cricket's vibrant characters and he will be sorely missed by the Scottish cricketing community.
The funeral will take place on Thursday 25th April at Warriston Crematorium at 11am.
