Network Rail National Primary Schools’ Cup - West Region Review

04 Jun

The West Regional Qualifying Tournaments in the Network Rail National Primary Schools’ Cup 2015 have now been completed.  There were three keenly-contested Tournaments with a total of 167 pupils from, 17 different primary schools, participating.

The following schools won their Regional Qualifying Tournament and will now go on to attend National Finals’ Day, on Wednesday 17th June, in Perth:

1)    Alloway Primary School (Ayrshire)

2)    Springhill & Auchenback Primary School (East Renfrewshire)

3)    The High School of Glasgow (Glasgow)

While ensuring that the pupils had fun, the partnership link with Network Rail also provided another opportunity for the participants.  Each pupil was provided with the opportunity to learn some key messages about safety on the rail network – which, in turn, helped to raise awareness of Network Rail’s investment in the community through its infrastructure projects and helped to highlight Network Rail as a socially responsible organisation.  This was achieved by a creating an ‘over’ of six key facts related to Network Rail and the rail network.

Thanks must go to Network Rail for their support of the overall competition, to all those people who helped to organise and/or host the regional events and the school pupils who participated with such enthusiasm.
