No play possible on day 1 of Scotland v Afghanistan

02 Jun

Scotland and Afghanistan had both hoped to kick-start start their aspirations of earning Test status with a positive first day at Stirling in their Intercontinental Cup fixture. However, a day of rain dampened their spirits.

No play was possible after heavy overnight rain had left the outfield sodden, as the umpires signalled for lunch to be taken at 1pm.

Although there was no more rain in the afternoon, and the sun did appear on several occasions, there was to be no cricket for the few hardy spectators who had toughed it out to watch.

At 3:30pm it was decided that the outfield wasn’t going to dry sufficiently, and play was abandoned for the day.

Update 1:15pm (3/6/15): No play has been possible on day 2, so far. The Umpires will have a look again at 2pm.
