Hamish Gardiner is included in a Saltires squad for the first time. The 22 year-old top order batsmen has previously played for Scotland at U13 level and has recently impressed when featuring with the ‘A’ team and Development XI this season.

Preston Mommsen will continue as Saltires’ captain after leading the side to victories against Kenya in two T20s and in the Intercontinental Cup back in July.

Craig Wallace is given the opportunity behind the stumps following his recent spell at Durham and a couple of solid performances against Kenya.

Calum MacLeod drivesThere is also a spot for Ruaidhri Smith in the Saltires squad after being declared ineligible for Scotland’s U19 World Cup Qualifying campaign in Holland this August, although should the youngsters qualify he will be able to play in the World Cup.

Captain Preston Mommsen commented after the announcement of the squad, “I’m very excited for this weekend’s fixture at the Oval. Obviously in terms of this competition it's our last away fixture, but the boys have always enjoyed the experience of playing at Oval. I think it's safe to say we owe Surrey one - the squad is in a good place following the strong results we had against Kenya, and we will carry forward a lot of confidence into this match.

Surrey are a proven one day team so the challenge is going to be a formidable one. We showed good progress through the first half of this competition and it would be good to see us to keep making strides forward. A result down there would certainly help that!”
