Scotland Dev XI to play MCC
The Scotland Development XI will play the Marylebone Cricket Club in a 3 day match in Stirling this week (18th – 20th June). The match will provide additional experience for the young Scottish players in multi-day cricket against experienced opposition.
The Development team will be led by Scotland U19 captain Ross McLean, and features eight current U19 players, three of whom are still U17. Carlton’s Kyle Stirling has replaced Craig Wallace who is playing 2nd XI cricket for Durham, and Niall Alexander of Dumfries is called up to replace Ayr’s Scott McElnea who is out injured.
Andrew Umeed will be looking to continue his good form of the past couple of weeks spent with Warwickshire, while Gavin Main will continue his comeback after missing the early part of the season with a side strain.
Ewan Chalmers will be hoping to push his way into the senior squad for the matches against Kenya in Aberdeen at the end of June, having been on the fringes of the team so far in 2013.
MCC include South Australian fast bowler Peter George who played one test match for Australia against India in 2010. The MCC team also features two capped Scotland players in Jamie Kerr and Gregor Maiden.
