Scotland A fall to Gloucestershire 2XI
Gloucestershire 2nd XI 299-7dec and 230-6dec (C Dent 85, B Gilmour 35) beat Scotland Development XI 312-7dec and 59 (M Hammond 4-11, C Dent 3-13) by 158 runs. [Scorecard]
Scotland’s rising stars were routed for just 59 as Gloucestershire’s second string cruised to victory at Bristol yesterday.
The Scots had matched their county rivals for the first two/thirds of the three-day encounter but were blown away in a disastrous closing afternoon.
Set a sporting 218 for victory, Scotland suffered the worst possible start when Hamish Gardiner was out off the fourth ball.
Four of Gardiner’s top order colleagues also departed for single figures as the visitors reeled on 23-5 after just seven overs.
The sorry procession continued as county spin-twins Chris Dent and Miles Hammond turned up the heat.
Only Grange duo Gordon Goudie (13) and George Munsey (11) reached double figures for Scotland while 18 year-old Hammond claimed 4-11 and Dent backed the youngster with 3-13.
Earlier the county batsmen had been kept in check by the Scottish bowlers with Michael Leask and Moneeb Iqbal taking two wickets each but Dent’s 85 allowed the county to declare for the second time in the match.
